Garching / Munich, Germany, and Basel, Switzerland

SpiroChem AG (SpiroChem), a Swiss Partner Research Organization specializing in complex medicinal chemistry, and ITM Isotope Technologies Munich SE (ITM), a leading radiopharmaceutical biotech company, today announced a strategic drug discovery collaboration to advance a novel radiopharmaceutical candidate for ITM’s pipeline. Additional details regarding the program target and financial terms of the collaboration have not been disclosed.

Under the collaboration, the parties will leverage their complementary capabilities by combining SpiroChem's advanced drug discovery platforms, macrocycle libraries and screening engine with ITM's radiopharmaceutical development expertise to discover high-affinity binders and advance a potential first-in-class radiopharmaceutical candidate.

The focus is on the development of a small molecule targeting agent directed at a cancer-associated marker in a solid tumor indication with limited treatment options. SpiroChem will lead hit identification and optimization activities, while ITM will contribute its expertise in radiopharmaceutical research and development spanning preclinical through clinical stages.

Thomas Fessard, PhD, CEO and co-founder of SpiroChem, said:

This program reflects our approach to working as a true discovery partner on complex programs where chemistry plays a central role in success. By bringing our proprietary macrocycle libraries, screening engine and design platforms to bear on ITM's deep radiopharmaceutical pipeline, we aim to identify and progress high-quality chemical matter suitable for targeted radionuclide therapies. We are particularly excited to contribute across the full design-make-test cycle, and to do so in close collaboration with ITM's highly experienced teams.

This collaboration is intended to broaden the scope of ITM’s pipeline, which currently includes 13 radiopharmaceutical drug candidates spanning preclinical development through Phase 3.

Dr. Andrew Cavey, chief executive officer of ITM, added:

Our agreement with SpiroChem gives us access to new drug discovery capabilities and a differentiated technology platform. This agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to strategically grow our radiopharmaceutical pipeline by pursuing novel biological targets with the potential to address significant unmet medical needs. Through the addition of this targeting program, we will further enhance the breadth of our portfolio and expand our ability to pursue new, promising opportunities in precision oncology for patients living with hard-to-treat cancers,
